1958, 24 Hours of Le Mans, victory for Olivier Gendebien and Phil Hill in a Ferrari Testa Rossa. In 1959, the Ferrari 250 GTs took the top four places in the GT Category, finishing 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th in the overall standings of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The following year, in 1960, the 250 Testa Rossa secured a one-two finish in the overall standings, and the 250 GTs with short wheelbase took 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th place.

All these cars were fitted with the same 3-litre Colombo V12 engine with simple ACT as the 250 Pininfarina Coupe.

No engine has enjoyed such success in competition and, at the same time, gained as much prestige in Grand Touring as the famous Ferrari V12 "Colombo". Such global dominance by a engine as a Prototype and a GT had never been seen and has never been repeated since. It is this extraordinary mechanism, nearly invicible, which is the very heart of the Ferrari brand’s fame, which powers the 250 GT Coupe Pininfarina.

It is the only two-seater Ferrari 250 still available (for the moment)for the others, it is necessary to invest between two and ten time as much…

It shares it wheelbase with it and all its mechanical components (Type 128 engine / Type 508 wheelbase), its bodywork, the pinnacle of classical beauty, hides its true character.

This very close relationship, not to say fusion, between racing and road going models back to Ferrari’s inception and continued into the early 1960s, with the 250 GTO and 250 LM.

The 250 GT Coupe Pininfarina a forgotten gem, confidential and still largely undervalued, is a delight for discerning collectors.

When, in 1959, a Ferrari 250 GT finished third in the overall standings of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, by winning the GT class, covering 4,001 km, its 24-hour average is just under 170 km/h…including refuelling stops, tyre replacement, the vagaries of racing and night-time driving…Simply extraordinary.

Ferrari with V12 engines are set apart, at the top, they always represent the ultimate dream cars. All attempts by other manufacturers to match them will have been in vain.

This 250 GT is part of the first series of the model, the most valuable in history. The pleasure and emotion of getting behind the wheel, simply to start it, and then to bring such a mechanism to life, are indescribable.

These wonderful cars are rare, a total of 353 (Series 1 and 2) were built, but according to our records, which have been kept for decades, of the 140 survivors, there would be fewer than 90 left from the first series. Many have disapppeared, or have been used as base for Tour de France, California or Testa Rossa bodywork.
